Loni Love
Description:
Throughout her career Loni Love has brought audiences to hysterics with her witty satire and hilarious stand-up. Her tireless pursuit of comedic excellence has established her as 1 of the top stand-up comedians working today; ranked as 1 of the "Top ten Comics to Watch" by both Variety and Comedy Central. With a knack for show business, Love is not only 1 of the most hilarious and lovable comics around, but also 1 of the most recognizable characters on TV. When not busy traveling the globe on her "Love Train" comedy tour, Love hosts E!s Wildest TV Show Moments, and is a recurring panelist on the late night talk show "Chelsea Lately" and truTV's "The Smoking Gun Presents: The World's Dumbest."
Growing up as a latchkey daughter of a hardworking mother in Detroit's Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects, Loni Love always had an incredible work ethic. Working on the General Motors assembly line in high school, Loni realized a passion for electrical engineering, which landed her a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University in Texas. She made her 1st appearance on stage at a Texas nightclub that was offering a $50 prize to the person who could tell the best story. Love won the $50 prize and instantly fell in love with stand-up comedy, routinely getting gigs throughout college. Upon graduation, Love landed an engineering job in California and headed west to pursue her dream.
After feeling out the Los Angeles comedy club scene and becoming a regular at the legendary Laugh Factory, "Love Train" reached full steam in 2003 when the electrical engineer by day / stand-up comedian by night was chosen for the comics showcase at the HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Soon after, Love won the Jury Prize for Best Stand-Up, and was a finalist on CBS’ revival of "Star Search" that same year. Since then, the Detroit native has forged a diverse and dynamic career, qualifying her as 1 of the most hardworking women in show business. Her skills and winning presence landed Love a role in the major motion picture “Soul Plane” alongside Tom Arnold, D.L. Hughley, and Snoop Dog. She has continued honing her acting craft in such Los Angeles area theater productions as twelve Angry Women, LoveSide, Sister Girl and Devil's Journey.
On the small screen, Love starred in her own half-hour special for Comedy Central in 2007, and she has also been seen on "Premium Blend," "Weekends at the DL," and "Chocolate News." Her many tv appearances include "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," "VH1's I Love the 70's/80's/90's," "Vh1's The Great Debate" and "Comics Unleashed" among many others. In 2009 Loni became a CNN correspondent for the show "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News," covering the inauguration of President Barak Obama.
